Quran verses about patience
The Quran ties patience (sabr) to Allah's help, His mercy and a reward "without measure." These verses name the trials of life — fear, loss, hunger — and point them at those who endure, who say "we belong to Allah and to Him we return" and who lean on prayer. Read them when waiting feels long or the way is hard.
Patience in the Quran is never passive. It is endurance tied to faith: the believer holds steady in trial, turns to Allah in prayer, and trusts that ease follows hardship — as 94:5-6 states twice. Below are the verses most often turned to for sabr.

Seek comfort in patience and prayer
Patience
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱسۡتَعِينُواْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
O believers! Seek comfort in patience and prayer. Allah is truly with those who are patient
Seek comfort in patience and prayer — Allah is with the patient.
We will certainly test you — give good news to the patient
Patience
وَلَنَبۡلُوَنَّكُم بِشَيۡءࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡخَوۡفِ وَٱلۡجُوعِ وَنَقۡصࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَمۡوَٰلِ وَٱلۡأَنفُسِ وَٱلثَّمَرَٰتِۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine and loss of property, life, and crops. And give good news ˹O Prophet˺ to those who are patient
Trials are named plainly; the good news is for those who endure.
Upon Allah's blessings and mercy they rely
Patience
أُوَٰلَٰٓئِكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ صَلَوَٰتࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡ وَرَحۡمَةࣱۖ وَأُوَٰلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُهۡتَدُونَ
It is they who are ˹rightly˺ guided and will receive Allah's blessings and mercy. And it is they who are ˹rightly˺ guided
The patient are guided and held in Allah's blessings and mercy.
Surely with hardship comes ease
Hope
فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرًا
So, surely with hardship comes ease
The promise: with hardship comes ease.
Surely with that hardship comes more ease
Hope
إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرࣰ ا
Surely with ˹that˺ hardship comes ˹more˺ ease
Repeated for certainty — ease is greater than the hardship.
Patiently endure, persevere, stand guard — so you may succeed
Patience
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱصۡبِرُواْ وَصَابِرُواْ وَرَابِطُواْ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُونَ
O believers! Patiently endure, persevere, stand guard, and be mindful of Allah, so you may be successful
A closing command: endure, persevere, stand guard — and succeed.

Be patient — your patience is only with the help of Allah
Patience
وَٱصۡبِرْ وَمَا صَبۡرُكَ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِۚ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا تَكُ فِي ضِيقࣲ مِّمَّا يَمۡكُرُونَ
And be patient ˹O Prophet˺, for your patience is only with the help of Allah. Do not grieve over them ˹the disbelievers˺, nor distress yourself ˹for their plots˺
Your patience is only with Allah's help, not willpower alone.
The patient will be paid their reward in full without measure
Patience
قُلۡ يَٰعِبَادِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ءَامِنُواْ بِرَبِّكُمۡۗ لِلَّذِينَ أَحۡسَنُواْ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا حَسَنَةࣱۗ وَأَرۡضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةࣱۗ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى ٱلصَّٰبِرُونَ أَجۡرَهُم بِغَيۡرِ حِسَابࣲ
Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ "O My servants who believe! Be mindful of your Lord. Those who do good in this world will have a good reward. And Allah's earth is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be paid their reward in full without measure."
The patient are paid their reward "in full without measure."
