Quran verses about forgiveness
Forgiveness in the Quran is open to anyone who turns: "Do not lose hope in Allah's mercy, for Allah certainly forgives all sins" (39:53). The believers are described as those who slip, then remember Allah and seek His forgiveness without persisting in the wrong (3:135). These verses are for the moment after a mistake — the door is not closed.
Istighfar — seeking forgiveness — is a rhythm in the Quran, paired even with the Prophet's own practice (40:55). Read these verses when guilt feels heavy.

Forgiveness
۞قُلۡ يَٰعِبَادِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسۡرَفُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَا تَقۡنَطُواْ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًاۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Say, ˹O Prophet, that Allah says,˺ “O My servants who have exceeded the limits against their souls! Do not lose hope in Allah’s mercy, for Allah certainly forgives all sins. He is indeed the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful
Do not despair of Allah's mercy — He forgives all sins.
When they sin, they remember Allah and seek forgiveness
Forgiveness
وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُواْ فَٰحِشَةً أَوۡ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ ذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ فَٱسۡتَغۡفَرُواْ لِذُنُوبِهِمۡ وَمَن يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَلَمۡ يُصِرُّواْ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلُواْ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ
And those who, when they commit an immoral act or wrong themselves, they remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins. And who can forgive sins except Allah? And they do not persist in wrongdoing knowingly
The believers slip, then remember Allah and seek forgiveness, and do not persist.

Forgiveness
وَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ سُوٓءًا أَوۡ يَظۡلِمۡ نَفۡسَهُۥ ثُمَّ يَسۡتَغۡفِرِ ٱللَّهَ يَجِدِ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
Whoever commits an evil or wrongs themselves, and then seeks Allah's forgiveness, they will certainly find Allah All-Forgiving, Most Merciful
Whoever does wrong then seeks forgiveness finds Allah All-Forgiving.

فَٱصۡبِرۡ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلۡعَشِيِّ وَٱلۡإِبۡكَارِ
So be patient ˹O Prophet˺, for Allah's promise is certainly true. Seek forgiveness and glorify your Lord's praises morning and evening

My mercy encompasses all things
Mercy
قَالَ عَذَابِيٓ أُصِيبُ بِهِۦ مَنۡ أَشَآءُۚ وَرَحۡمَتِي وَسِعَتۡ كُلَّ شَيۡءࣲۚ فَسَأَكۡتُبُهَا لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ وَيُؤۡتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ
He answered, "I will inflict My punishment on whom I will. But My mercy encompasses everything. I will ordain mercy for those who shun ˹idolatry˺, pay alms-tax, and believe in Our revelations."
My mercy encompasses all things — the ground forgiveness rests on.
